I have mutiple Domain Alias’s for each county eg. Company.com / company.com.au / company.nz etc All are the same website, however some bits like Pricing is dynamically shown in the country’s local currency.
I have concerns how to manage Google SEO. eg. Ideally in New Zealand I want the the .nz domain to show up etc I also currently redirect NZ Viewers for example to the NZ Domain automatically if they hit the .COM for example.
Someone mentioned to me Canonical URLS / HrefFlags.
Anyone have any advice on how to manage this SEO wisely?

  1. Hello, Thank you so much for getting in touch.

The canonicals are a good way to prevent content duplication and can let Google know what is the main page for the content.

However, search engines usually will only index canonical versions of the website so if you set the canonical pointing to a different domain it’s likely that the domain will see a decrease in the number of indexed pages.

The best way to go about this is likely with the alternative tags that will list all the alternatives to the current page for different languages via the hreflang directive.

This way Google will know about all the variations of the page.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
