Hi there,

Hi there,
I am really struggling with my SEO concerning the focus keyword. Most of the time I use a keyword consisting of two words, like statement earrings and stud earrings. The problem is that when I have used the focus word statement earrings, and in the next blog I use stud earrings, RM says I already have used the keyword and my score is lower. How can I avoid or solve this problem?
Using one word, like the only ‘statement’, does not make any sense without the word ‘earrings’ behind it.
Thank you for answering!

  1. Hello, Thank you so much for getting in touch.

Our tests look through your entire website and look for posts and pages where you have used that focus keyword, if it finds one this error is reported.

This test is just a guideline to make sure that you don’t have multiple posts/pages competing with each other on your website for the same focus keyword.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

  2. Thank you. But the thing is that RM score is lower when one word is already used. So how is the ficus keyword checked by RM? By word or by the combination of words that makes up the keyword?

  3. Hi Florence, in the world of SEO you shouldn’t use your keyword more than once per post. That’s why Rank Math is prompting you that you’ve already used the keyword already. What you could do is use a derivative of your keyword or another related term to your keyword (instead of the actual keyword). I hope that makes sense. The reason for that is you don’t want to be competing with your own focus keywords. Scott | PinArtwork
