Hello Everyone, It is very confusing to me. I have used the same keyword “recipe margarita” in both ahrefs and Google keyword planner having the same attribute. But it is a very huge difference between the data they are providing. Which one is correct? Please make me clear about it.

  1. Hello Sunil Sharma Poudel

There is no definitive answer to this question: different tools have different data providers and different ways they calculate CPC, volume, etc. All of the data these tools provide is estimated and depending on who is looking at the data some will say that one is more accurate than other and vice versa.

Not sure if you’ll ever get “exact volume” because no one except Google has “exact volumes”.

You can get estimates, and forecasts in Google Ads planner or use Semrush or a tool to get.

If you wanted exact volume you would need to set you campaign to “always be in absolute first position” then set your bid extremely high to beat competitors. Run that for a month and you have your search volume (minus the fact internationalization may be missing).

    Hope that helps. Thank you.

  2. Sunil It’s worth noting that keyword volumes change over time. If you check next month you’ll have different results even on the same tool.
Many keywords research tools use Google data, but there are things like rounded averages, keyword buckets etc. that can affect these volumes.
Ahrefs may even use Googles data but supplements it with data from other sources including their own projections.
There is no one truth when it comes to search volumes. Just assume that lowest value is why you can get and you should be good.
