Does showing photo credit (even if no attribution required) improve SEO by any means? If it doesn’t, then why do many sites show credits even for CC0 or royalty free non-attribution images?

  1. Hello Mustafa Mohsen

    Thank you for your message.

In our opinion, it is related to legal aspect more than the search ranking factor.

In our experiments, the following things have helped with the image SEO:
Adding ALT and title tag, keywords in filenames (but don’t keyword stuff or duplicate tags), GEO coordinates within image properties.

You can do everything but the GEO coordinates with the Rank Math plugin.

Hope that helps. If there’s anything else we can help you with, please let us know.

  2. Also because they are decent people and want to give credit to the creator? It’s the least one can do…
